How to Use The Mathematics of Love to Improve Your Relationship

Researchers say that the happiest relationships are the ones where couples experience five positive interactions to one negative.

By being aware of the mathematics, you can work this in your favour by saturating your relationship with positives. We’re not talking grand gestures, but instead, small things you can do often and even daily such as compliments, praise and expressing gratitude. These things will help you achieve long-term happiness and a connection with the one you love.

Finding ways to create positives with your partner daily can be easy if you get a little creative.

Here are my top five suggestions:

1. To the letter

Take the time to handwrite a note or card with loving words, and put it in your partner’s lunchbox or bag. Not only will it be a nice surprise when he/she finds it, but it will be a nice reminder that you are thinking of them.

2. Get digital

Many people criticise technology for making people drift apart, but you can use it to your advantage! Send a text, a funny selfie or meme to your partner to show that you are thinking of them when you are apart.

3. Give compliments

Does your partner look good in his new shirt? Does your wife look hot with her new hairdo? Tell each other! Complimenting each other on a daily basis will make both of you feel appreciated, and shows that you are both invested in the relationship.

4. Unburden them

If your partner is feeling stressed, help them without being asked. It can be little things, such as offering to do the cooking, running errands or ironing their work outfit for the next day. By doing so, you are supporting your partner and showing you are a team.

5. Embrace gratitude

Say ‘thank you’ to your partner for doing things you might take for granted, such as doing the household work, paying the bills or driving the kids to school. Showcasing gratitude, gives you partner feelings of value and validation.
