Due to social distancing measures that have necessarily been put in place by the Australian government to prevent the spread of COVID-19, I offer couple counselling sessions online for those who prefer it, so I can continue to support couples in need through these most trying of times.
Through this crisis, our relationships will be tested like never before, placing our stress and anxiety at levels we could never have imagined as couples deal with being isolated in their homes as they attempt to cope with the economic and health impacts of this virus.
This makes the need to support individuals and couples through the next weeks or months critical and if you are in need of support my services are available for a professional, ethical and secure counselling and psychotherapy sessions in the privacy of your own home or office.
Individual and Couple Counselling and Psychotherapy Online Sessions available through Zoom
Individual Counselling & Psychotherapy Session (50 minutes): $180.00 (inc. GST)
Couple Counselling Session $250.00 per 60 minutes (inc. GST) with the first consult to be booked for for 2 hours
Counselling focuses on enhancing people's capacity to cope with specific life challenges, such as a relationship ending, bereavement or anxiety. Melissa can help you get through a personal crisis, and help you develop goals for the future.
Psychotherapy focuses on achieving change to break destructive habits or patterns. Often people notice that the nature of their personal difficulties are repetitive; similar issues arise time and time again in different contexts and relationships.
While Melissa enjoys working with couples, individual work with her clients, particularly in long-term psychotherapy and self-analysis is a great passion of hers.
With extensive training in psychotherapy, Melissa has also continued her own psychotherapy journey, which is central to understanding the brave steps her clients have taken to ask for her help in starting their own journey towards healing.
After 20 years of working as a psychotherapist and counsellor Melissa’s extensive experience has taught her that change happens when the unconscious is understood and examined fully with all aspects of the self supported and encouraged for integration with our conscious thoughts and actions.
Her ‘Relational Psychotherapy’ training in ‘Transactional Analysis’ and ‘Psychodynamic’ approaches helps the people Melissa works with successfully change aspects of their personality, as well as help improve their relationships and connection with themselves and others.
What can I expect when we first meet with Melissa?
Your sessions will include:
· Addressing your primary concerns
· Talking with your partner while Melissa observes and comments
· Interviews to identify attachment styles
· Learning and practicing effective communication techniques
· Exercises to help you feel safe and secure with your partner
At the initial consultation Melissa will create a plan built for you that outlines the level and type of support you will need based on the crisis level in your relationship, and will explain how she will assist you in steering your relationship to a safe and secure place.
Melissa’s primary aim is to help you create a relationship that you can manage yourself emotionally well on a daily basis, no matter the issues that may arise.
